50s Reproduction Lettering
Two representative, though diverse, specimens of reproduction lettering from the late 50s. Brush lettering, like that in the top image, reached its zenith around this time. Stylized modern-like forms, such as the one in the bottom photo, were also quite popular. However, both styles fell out of favor among advertisers and art directors by the early 60s when neo-grotesques and riffs on the International Style came into fashion.
